Understanding NIOS

Making education accessible to every learner

The National Institute of Open Schooling, or NIOS, is an educational board under the Government of India that provides flexible and inclusive learning opportunities for students who may find it difficult to thrive in a traditional school environment.

It can be especially beneficial for children with special needs, learning disabilities, developmental disorders, chronic health conditions or those who require an individualized pace of learning.

Through flexible subject choices and learner-friendly study options, children can continue their education according to their abilities, interests and individual learning requirements.
